About the Book

Maria Diaz, renowned for her cross-stitch designs, has treated us to her original love of hand embroidery. This beautiful embroidery sourcebook offers great versatility, whether you're an experienced hand, or new to the craft. From fun motifs to pretty florals in a variety of sizes, they can be used to adorn anything from tablecloths, towels and cushions, to clothing.

 

Each inspiring pattern has a color key and stitch suggestion indicated, but why not test your creativity by using them to produce an original sampler of your own. If you are a beginner simply backstitch the outline of the pattern to gain confidence, or the ‘old hand’ can test their imagination by filling the shapes with any number of stitches in their repertoire.

 

The style and concepts of the motifs in the book makes it unique. There are photographs of the designs, all fully stitched, giving you the opportunity to compare the motifs with the final look. However, if you don't like what you see, you can choose your own colors and techniques to complete the motifs.

Specialising in cross stitch, it is the variety of subjects and styles I get to explore that makes my work so versatile. I love researching different ideas and playing with design styles sometimes incorporating more complicated stitches, although it is incredible what you can achieve just using simple cross & back stitches.
